Glenn Maxwell T20I Centuries List

Glenn Maxwell has made himself a name for his astonishing stroke-making in limited-overs cricket. The all-rounder has single-handedly won many games for Australia with his resolute batting.

Once Maxwell gets going, then there’s no stopping him, crushing the hopes of the opponents. In his remarkable T20I career, he has shown a liking for smashing big scores.

Here, we’ll list Glenn Maxwell’s T20I centuries for Australia.

1. 145* (65) vs Sri Lanka | Pallekele, 2016

Glenn Maxwell scored his maiden T20I century against Sri Lanka in 2016. After being put in to bat first, Glenn Maxwell opened the innings along with David Warner.

This is the only time he has opened a T20I innings and went on to hammer an unbeaten 145. Maxwell was out there with clear intent, depositing the ball into the stands mercilessly.

The right-hander completed his fifty in 27 balls, and in the next 22 deliveries, he raced away to his first T20I hundred.

Maxwell continued his rampage, with other batters chipping in from the other side. He remained not out on 145 off 65 balls, helping Australia post 263 runs on the board — the highest T20I total at that time.

2. 103* (58) vs England | Hobart, 2018

Yet again, Glenn Maxwell strode out to bat in the first over, although this time as a No. 4 batter.

Australia were chasing a target of 156 runs set by England in the second match of the 2018 Trans-Tasman series. However, they couldn’t get the desired start, losing 2 wickets in 4 balls.

Maxwell came out to bat but took a few balls to settle in. Then, in the last powerplay over, he changed his gears.

He started finding occasional boundaries, reaching his fifty in 30 balls. A few more wickets fell in the middle, prompting him to slow down.

But he charged down in the death overs, taking Australia home on the third delivery of the 19th over with a six. That winning six also propelled Maxwell to bag his second T20I hundred for Australia.

3. 113* (55) vs India | Bengaluru, 2019

Glenn Maxwell’s third T20I century came in yet another successful run chase, this time against India in 2019.

Australia were chasing a steep target of 191 runs, and they were reeling at 22 for 2 in the fourth over. In came Mad Max, and he took away the game from India.

The Australian all-rounder put on a 73-run stand with D’Arcy Short for the third wicket, contributing 38 runs. Soon, he completed his half-century in 28 balls, but the job was not done.

As the game reached the last 5 overs, Maxwell pierced through India’s bowling attack, hitting boundaries with ease. Maxwell brought up his hundred off 50 balls and finished off the proceedings with a six and four to take Australia home.

4. 104 * (48) vs India | Guwahati, 2023

After more than 4.5 years, Glenn Maxwell unleashed his inner beast against India, helping Australia ace the 223-run target.

India posted 222 runs on the board, riding on the back of Ruturaj Gaikwad’s 123-run knock. In pursuit of India’s target, the Australian openers came out all guns blazing, racing to 47 runs for the first wicket in 4.2 overs.

By the time Maxwell walked in, he had a set platform to keep the momentum going. To his dismay, wickets kept tumbling on the other end, but that didn’t deter him.

The right-hander went about his business, finding occasional boundaries and getting his fifty in 28 balls. With 16 needed off 4 balls, Maxwell hit six, four, four, and four to thrash the target and bring up his fourth T20I century.

5. 120* (55) vs West Indies | Adelaide, 2024

Glenn Maxwell smashed his fifth T20I century against the West Indies in February 2024, three months after his carnage against India.

Put in to bat first, Australia were 57 for 2 in 5.3 overs when Maxwell came in. Once the hard-hitter came on to the pitch, it was all Mad Max show.

Maxwell didn’t spare any Caribbean bowlers, slamming the ball towards the fence with ease. He reached the fifty-run mark off 25 deliveries.

The right-hander displayed his shot-making skills, depositing the ball in all corners of the ground. Maxwell brought up his fifth hundred off 50 balls and remained unbeaten on 120, propelling Australia’s total to 241 runs.
