England haven’t been up to the mark in ODI cricket of late. They have been back to their pre-2015 World Cup days. And that puts their direct qualification for the 2027 Cricket World Cup at risk.
So England need to up their ODI game to avoid such a situation. And, fortunately, they have plenty of ODIs scheduled to improve their position.
England will likely play close to 30 to 35 ODIs in the lead-up to the 2027 Cricket World Cup.

Sri Lanka vs England | January 2026 (Away)
After a gruelling Ashes, England will return to white-ball action in late January 2026. They will tour Sri Lanka for a crucial series.
The series starts with three ODIs, with the first scheduled on January 22 in Colombo. The second and third ODIs will take place on January 24 and 27, respectively.
England vs India | July 2026 (Home)
England’s next ODI assignment will be against India. They will host them for a set of three ODIs.
Birmingham will stage the first 50-over game on July 14. The second one-dayer will take place on July 16 in Cardiff. The third match will take place at the Lord’s on July 19.
England vs Sri Lanka | September 2026 (Home)
England will face Sri Lanka once again in 2026. This time, they will play against the Lankan Lions at home in another three ODIs.
The first ODI will take place at Chester-le-Street on September 22. The second 50-over game will be at Leeds on September 24. And the last ODI will be at The Oval on September 27.
ODI Tri-Series in Pakistan | October-November 2026 (Away)
England will travel to Pakistan for an ODI tri-series, with Sri Lanka being the third team. So, this will be England’s third encounter against Sri Lanka in 2026.
They will play against Pakistan and Sri Lanka once. If they qualify for the final, it will be an additional game.
Australia vs England | November 2026 (Away)
England will tour Down Under in November 2026. This time, they will take on the Aussies in white-ball games, with more focus on the three ODIs.
South Africa vs England | December 2026 (Away)
England will touch down in South Africa for an all-format series in December 2026. The series itinerary consists of three ODIs, giving much-needed game time in the conditions where the next World Cup will take place.
Note: England may potentially schedule a few more ODI matches before the World Cup starts in October 2027.
