A new T20 league is on the block in Europe. And it’s the European T20 Premier League (ETPL).
After deliberations for quite some time, the league found its wings in 2025, with the actual action beginning in 2026.
Six teams feature in the tournament proper, with all having prominent names as owners.
So here’s a look at the owners of each ETPL team.
Amsterdam Flames
Owners: Steve Waugh, Jamie Dwyer and Tim Thomas
First up are the Amsterdam Flames. They have a complete Australian flavour in their ownership.
A consortium led by legendary Australian cricketer Steve Waugh owns the Flames. Waugh’s business partner, Tim Thomas, is also on board as a co-owner. The duo is co-founders of Australia Essence.
Former Australian hockey legend Jamie Dwyer rounds off the ownership of the Amsterdam-based franchise.
Belfast Wolves
Owners: Floodlight Capital Consortium and Glenn Maxwell
Another franchise, another Australian connection. Floodlight Capital Consortium and Glenn Maxwell co-own Belfast Wolves in the ETPL.
Rohan Lund leads the Floodlight Capital Consortium. It’s an investment group with a major interest in sports management.
Lund previously served as NRMA Group’s chief executive. As for Maxwell, he played for Australia across formats.
Dublin Guardians
Owners: Indian Consortium (Includes Rahul Dravid)
A T20 league and no Indian connection? That’s almost impossible!
Dublin Guardians are under the ownership of an Indian consortium, which also includes Rahul Dravid.
Dravid had an illustrious career for India in Tests and ODIs, aggregating more than 24,000 runs.
Notably, Dravid also played for Scotland back in 2003. So there’s a little European connection as well.
Edinburgh Castle Rockers
Owners: Kyle Mills and Nathan McCullum
New Zealand too has found its way to Europe. A New Zealand-based consortium owns Edinburgh Castle Rockers.
Former Kiwi players, Kyle Mills and Nathan McCullum, are part of the consortium.
Glasgow Cosmic
Owners: Mugafi Group and Matthew Hayden
Glasgow Cosmic have a mix of Indian and Australian connections. India’s Mugafi Group and former Australian cricketer Matthew Hayden co-own the franchise.
Vipul Agrawal heads the Mugafi Group, which is an entertainment and technology partner. Tansha Batra, who also works at Mugafi Group, is part of the ownership group.
Rotterdam Dockers
Owners: Faf du Plessis, Jonty Rhodes, Heinrich Klaasen and John Abraham
Rotterdam Dockers bring in South African flavour. Faf du Plessis, Jonty Rhodes and Heinrich Klaasen co-own the franchise.
Du Plessis and Klaasen are among the big names in the T20 circuit. Rhodes, meanwhile, has made himself a name for his coaching credentials. He even coached Sweden’s national team in 2020.
The Dockers also have an Indian connection, with Bollywood actor John Abraham rounding out the ownership group.
