The Indian Premier League (IPL) is known for the star players, packed stadiums and of course, the entertainment. But there’s a lot that happens off the ground.
Many franchises go beyond the cricket action and do something for the community. Rajasthan Royals (RR) are one of them.
The Jaipur-based franchise has been lighting up homes with its Pink Promise initiative.
So what’s this Pink Promise initiative?
RR have been running the Pink Promise initiative since 2024. The franchise runs the initiative through the Rajasthan Royals Foundation (RRF).
Through this initiative, RR supports two causes. The first is women’s empowerment in rural areas. And the second is sustainable development.
RRF provides training on solar infrastructure work to women. The trained women install and maintain solar infrastructure. This aligns with their campaign’s core message: Aurat Hai To Bharat Hai.
The solar infrastructure developed by these rural women then lights up homes in Rajasthan. In 2024, the initiative provided electricity to 260 homes, while the number doubled (520 homes) in 2025.

How does RR support the initiative?
So, the Royals support the initiative through a Pink Promise match played once every season. The players take the field in all-pink jerseys.
The all-pink jerseys have a theme related to the initiative. And most notably, the franchise runs a nationwide competition to design the jersey.
Speaking of this special match, the Royals provide electricity through solar energy to six homes in Rajasthan for every six hit.
Plus, the franchise supports women-led rural development projects through the special pink jersey and match ticket sales.
