Eight venues across India and Sri Lanka have been hosting the Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.
While the venues for the group stage and the Super Eight round are locked in, there’s still no confirmation for the knockouts.
So, which venues will host the T20 World Cup 2026 knockouts?
The ICC has earmarked four venues for the knockouts – Ahmedabad, Colombo, Kolkata, and Mumbai.
But either three or two of those venues will actually host the knockouts. And it depends on a few scenarios.
Scenario 1: If India qualifies for the semi-final & final
India are, obviously, the favourites to reach the final. And if they do, with their opponent teams other than Pakistan, then their knockouts will be in India.
The Men in Blue will feature in the second semi-final scheduled on March 5 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. If they advance to the final, then the title clash will take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on March 8.
Scenario 2: If Pakistan qualifies for the semi-final & final
Pakistan played all their group stage matches in Sri Lanka, with their Super Eight fixtures also in the same country.
In case Pakistan qualifies for the knockouts, they will play both the semi-final and the final at Colombo’s R. Premadasa Stadium (RPS), regardless of their opponents.
Scenario 3: If Sri Lanka qualifies for the semi-final & final
Co-hosts Sri Lanka played all their matches on their home soil. And if they advance to the semi-final, their clash will be at Colombo (RPS).
But if the Lankans qualify for the final, they won’t have the home advantage. Instead, they will travel to Ahmedabad for the title clash.
Scenario 4: If India and Pakistan qualify for the semi-final or final
India are slated to play the second semi-final in Mumbai. But if they face Pakistan in the semis, then the venue will shift to Colombo (RPS).
The same will be the case for the final. An India versus Pakistan final will take place in Colombo instead of Ahmedabad.
Scenario 5: If neither Pakistan nor Sri Lanka qualifies for the knockouts
In case neither Pakistan nor Sri Lanka advances to the knockouts, then the semi-finals and the final will take place in India.
The first semi-final will take place in Kolkata, with the second one in Mumbai. And Ahmedabad will host the final.
