5 Unbreakable Cricket Records Set by Sachin Tendulkar

Sachin Tendulkar — a name that made billions of Indians fall in love with cricket and inspired many to take up the sport.

The Mumbai batter had a 24-year-long illustrious career where he dazzled the field with his batting mastery, setting numerous records and earning the tag of a GOAT.

Sachin made his last international appearance in 2013, but many of his records are still intact.

In this article, we’ll glance at Sachin Tendulkar’s 5 unbreakable cricket records.

Most International Appearances

Sachin Tendulkar’s longevity and consistency are second to none. And that is reflected in the record number of matches he played across formats in 24 years.

The Master Blaster featured in 664 international matches from 1989 to 2013. He is one of the 2 players who have played 650 or more career matches.

Out of those 664 games, 200 appearances came in Tests, 463 in ODIs, and a single match in T20Is.

Most International Runs

When Sachin stepped on the crease, he was on a mission to bat and bat for a longer duration. That resulted in him amassing the most runs in all formats.

In his heydays, he was an absolute run machine with a hunger for scoring runs. The fact that Sachin is the only batter with 30000+ international runs validates his batting elegance.

In his 664 appearances, the God of Cricket accumulated 34357 runs at an impressive average of 48.52. 15921 of those runs came in the Test format, and an astounding 18426 runs came in the ODI format.

Most Centuries Across Formats

With that consistency in his performances, he was bound to notch up a record tally of hundreds. Once he got going on the crease, the right-hander made sure to convert his starts into big scores.

In 2012, Sachin became the only player to have a century of centuries in international cricket. He hammered 51 tons in Test cricket and 49 hundreds in ODI cricket, making it a perfect 100!

Virat Kohli went past his ODI centuries tally, but it’s highly unlikely any batter will surpass his 51 Test hundreds.

119 of his fifty-plus knocks came in the Test format, and 145 came in the ODI format, which is again the most in both formats.

The Triple of 30000 Runs, 200 Wickets, and 200 Catches

Well, everyone knows about Sachin’s batting exploits, but he was also a decent bowler and a great catcher of the ball.

A player with such wonderful all-round abilities is an asset for any team. And on many occasions, Sachin proved it by bailing out his team either with the bat or the ball.

He is the only player to achieve the triple of 30000 runs, 200 wickets, and 200 catches across formats. The Master Blaster scored 34357 runs, bagged 201 wickets, and grabbed 256 catches in international cricket.
