WPL 2025: Know Captains of All 5 WPL Teams
Want to know who are the captains of WPL teams? Here’s a list of captains who will lead the five teams in the 2025 season.

After two cracking seasons, the Women’s Premier League (WPL) is back with its third iteration in 2025. The women’s T20 league will begin on February 14, with five teams in action.

This time around, the action will expand to two new venues, with 22 matches in total. All five teams are ready, and so are their captains with plans and strategies.

That said, let’s see who are the captains of all teams in the WPL 2025 season.

Delhi Capitals | Meg Lanning

Two-time runners-up Delhi Capitals (DC) have retained Meg Lanning as their captain. The Capitals have been a consistent side under the former Australian skipper.

Her tactical acumen was instrumental in DC reaching the finals in the last two editions. In both seasons, Delhi won six of the eight matches to top the points table and storm right into the final.

Lanning would like to repeat the same performance this year, though she would be eager to go a step further and clinch the title.

Gujarat Giants | Ashleigh Gardner

After two disappointing seasons, Gujarat Giants (GG) have made a change in leadership. They have replaced Beth Mooney with her Australian colleague.

GG and Australian all-rounder Ashleigh Gardner will step into the new role this season. Gardner doesn’t have a lot of captaincy experience but will look to put behind the last two editions’ performance and start afresh.

Mumbai Indians | Harmanpreet Kaur

Mumbai Indians (MI) perhaps have one of the strongest sides in WPL. And Harmanpreet Kaur has led them quite well in the previous two editions.

The current Indian skipper guided MI to title victory in front of the home crowd in the inaugural season. And they were close to making it to their consecutive final in 2024, only to be undone by RCB in the Eliminator.

Kaur has a chance to recreate the first season’s performance as they return to their home venue for a couple of matches, with the final also scheduled in Mumbai.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru | Smriti Mandhana

Smriti Mandhana will lead the WPL 2024 champions once again. The top-order batter will have the task of defending Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) title.

Last season, RCB had a topsy-turvy season. But despite that, Mandhana held her own to qualify for the Eliminator and then defeat DC in the final.

RCB will miss the services of a few players from their champion team, but that shouldn’t stop them from their title defence.

UP Warriorz | Deepti Sharma

As Deepti Sharma takes the field in WPL 2025, she will become only the third Indian player to captain a team in the competition. She is all set to lead UP Warriorz (UPW) in the absence of their regular skipper, Alyssa Healy.

Healy has withdrawn from this year’s WPL due to an injury. So the Warriorz management handed the captaincy duties to Sharma.

She will aim to take UPW to their first WPL final and eventually lift the trophy to leave a lasting impression.
