WPL 2026: 4 Uncapped Players to Watch Out For

As the Women’s Premier League (WPL) returns for its fourth iteration in January 2026, all eyes will be on the big stars.

But keep an eye out for some uncapped emerging talent, who could spring some surprises with their performances.

Here are the four uncapped players you can watch out for in WPL 2026.

Deeya Yadav

If one Shafali Verma wasn’t enough, Delhi Capitals (DC) now have two. Deeya Yadav could be their second Shafali. In fact, Deeya comes from Shafali’s state, Haryana, and idolises her.

The 16-year-old batter came to the limelight for her hard-hitting skills. She struck a 213-run knock from 115 balls against Tripura in the 2023 Under-15 Women’s One-Day Trophy.

Cut to 2025, Deeya scored at impressive strike rates in senior and age-group tournaments. She finished the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy with 298 runs, striking at 128. She then followed it with 151 runs at nearly 150 in the Senior Women’s Inter Zonal T20 Trophy.

So expect some fiery performances from Deeya in WPL 2026 if given chances by the team.

Milly Illingworth

Like Deeya, Milly Illingworth will also share the field along with her idol Shabnim Ismail at Mumbai Indians (MI).

At 20, the Australian pacer has impressed everyone with her speed. Illingworth can clock close to 120 kmph.

Speaking of her playing experience, she has already made a mark in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL), with 18 wickets in 28 innings.

Anushka Sharma

Madhya Pradesh has been producing some promising cricketing talent of late. And Anushka Sharma is among that lot. She can score steady runs and dismiss batters with her off-spin.

Anushka showed a glimpse of her all-round abilities in the 2025 Senior Women’s Inter Zonal T20 Trophy. She finished the tournament with 155 runs at a strike rate of 125, the third-most, and took seven wickets at an economy of 6.80.

Anushka could provide that all-round cushion in Gujarat Giants’ (GG) setup, who signed her as the most expensive uncapped player in WPL auction history.

Gongadi Trisha

What were you doing at the age of eight? Studying, perhaps. But here we have Gongadi Trisha, who debuted for Hyderabad’s under-16 side at eight!

At 20, Trisha now has a ‘Champion’ tag to her name. She played a crucial role with her all-round skills in India’s title run in the 2025 Women’s Under-19 T20 World Cup.

The Hyderabad all-rounder top-scored with 309 runs at a strike rate of 147.14. She also picked up seven wickets with her leg spin.

With such numbers behind her back, Trisha could be a valuable all-rounder for UP Warriorz.
