Scotland were not supposed to play the Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 in the first place. But here they are, all kitted up for their seventh appearance.
So here’s all you need to know about Scotland’s T20 World Cup 2026 schedule.
But before that…
How did Scotland perform in 2024?
The Scottish boys had a solid outing in the 2024 edition. But they missed out on the Super Eight qualification to England due to a slightly inferior net run rate.
Nevertheless, Scotland defeated Namibia and Oman, while they made Australia sweat for their win.
They were also good in their washed-out match against England, getting to 90 runs in 10 overs in the first innings. Had rain not interrupted, they would’ve perhaps had a better chance to enter the Super Eight.
How did Scotland qualify for the 2026 edition?
They actually didn’t qualify on their own. Rather, the ICC has invited the Scots. How come?
So, Bangladesh refused to travel to India. And that resulted in ICC replacing Bangladesh with Scotland a couple of weeks before the tournament.
If Bangladesh hadn’t refused, Scotland would’ve had to watch the tournament from their home as they failed to gain a slot through the 2025 Europe regional final.
So, when does Scotland play their first match?
Scotland will be in action on the very first day. They will take on the West Indies in the afternoon clash in Kolkata on February 7, 2026.
Where will Scotland play their matches?
The Scots will play three of their four group-stage matches in Kolkata. Their other match will be in Mumbai.
Here are the venues for Scotland’s matches:
- Eden Gardens, Kolkata
- Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai

Scotland’s third match is against England on February 14, while they will travel to Mumbai for their last match against Nepal on February 17.

Which are Scotland’s key matches?
Each of Scotland’s games could be exciting. They sort of have some history against the West Indies, Italy, and Nepal.
The Scots have previously beaten the West Indies in the T20 World Cup, by 42 runs, actually, in 2022. And then they will perhaps look to avenge the regional final loss against the Italians.
As far as Nepal are concerned, these two sides have a 1-1 record in T20Is. And their match against England is almost a United Kingdom derby.
What could be Scotland’s Super Eight fixtures if they qualify?
Scotland missed out on the Super Eight qualification last time. But if they do qualify in this edition, here’s how their fixtures could look. Here are a couple of scenarios:
If Scotland finish in the top two in Group C, along with England, they will be seeded X3:
| Date | Match | Venue | Time (IST) |
|---|---|---|---|
| February 23, 2026 | X2 (Australia) vs X3 (Scotland) | Mumbai | 7:00 PM |
| February 26, 2026 | X3 (Scotland) vs X4 (South Africa) | Ahmedabad | 3:00 PM |
| March 1, 2026 | X1 (India) vs X3 (Scotland) | Kolkata | 7:00 PM |
If Scotland finish in the top two in Group C, along with the West Indies, they will be seeded Y1:
| Date | Matches | Venue | Time (IST) |
|---|---|---|---|
| February 22, 2026 | Super 8: Y1 (Scotland) vs Y4 (Sri Lanka) | Kandy | 3:00 PM |
| February 24, 2026 | Super 8: Y1 (Scotland) vs Y3 (Pakistan) | Kandy | 7:00 PM |
| February 27, 2026 | Super 8: Y1 (Scotland) vs Y2 (New Zealand) | Colombo (RPS) | 7:00 PM |
If neither England nor the West Indies finish in the top two:
- Scotland will be seeded Y1 if they top Group C
- Scotland will be seeded X3 if they rank second in Group C
What’s Scotland’s squad like?
Scotland’s veteran Richie Berrington will lead them once again. They have actually not tinkered a lot with their squad that appeared in the 2024 edition.
George Munsey could pair up with Michael Jones to open, with Berrington, Brandon McMullen, Tom Bruce, and Matthew Cross to follow. Michael Leask can contribute with his all-round skills.
Safyaan Sharif will lead their pace attack, which includes Brad Currie, Brad Wheal, and the Afghan-born Zainullah Ihsan. Chris Greaves and Mark Watt, meanwhile, will handle spin duties, with a young Oliver Davidson to assist.
Scotland’s T20 World Cup 2026 squad:
Richie Berrington (capt), Tom Bruce, Matthew Cross, Brad Currie, Oli Davidson, Chris Greaves, Zainullah Ihsan, Michael Jones, Michael Leask, Finlay McCreath, Brandon McMullen, George Munsey, Safyaan Sharif, Mark Watt, Brad Wheal
