The Major League Cricket (MLC) 2025 has started on June 12. This marks the third edition of the T20 league.
All six teams have planned their strategies to win the tournament. And the captains will be at the forefront to execute those strategies.
So, who are all those captains in the MLC 2025 season?
Los Angeles Knight Riders | Jason Holder
After a terrible season last year, Los Angeles Knight Riders (LAKR) will look to bounce back in MLC 2025. Under Sunil Narine’s captaincy, the team managed only two wins out of six games last year.
So they’ve decided to hand over the captaincy reins to his former West Indies colleague Jason Holder. The tall all-rounder, though, will miss a couple of matches.
Holder has previously led the Windies, though he doesn’t have vast experience. So, it will be a tough task for Holder to turn things around.
MI New York | Nicholas Pooran
Holder’s former Windies mate, Nicholas Pooran, will lead MI New York (MINY) in MLC 2025. He will replace Kieron Pollard in the job.
Pooran has decent captaincy experience on the T20 circuit. Earlier last year, he captained MINY’s sister franchise, MI Emirates, to a title triumph in ILT20.
So MINY will bank on the explosive batter to add another title to MI Family’s trophy cabinet.
San Francisco Unicorns | Corey Anderson
San Francisco Unicorns have retained Corey Anderson as their captain for MLC 2025. Under his leadership, the Unicorns stormed into the final last year.
Although the Unicorns fell short of the title victory, Anderson’s captaincy played a crucial role in their turnaround. He guided San Francisco to six wins out of nine games.
The franchise will expect Anderson to lead in the same fashion and perhaps lift the trophy.

Seattle Orcas | Heinrich Klaasen
Seattle Orcas have once again shown their faith in Heinrich Klaasen. The former South African player will lead the team for the second season in a row.
Last year, the Orcas endured a poor run, with only a lone victory in seven matches. This time, Klaasen would like to change the fortunes.
Texas Super Kings | Faf du Plessis
The Super Kings believe in consistency. And so they have retained Faf du Plessis as Texas Super Kings (TSK) captain.
The franchise made it to the playoffs in the previous two seasons. Now, du Plessis would be eager to go a step ahead and lift the title.
Washington Freedom | Glenn Maxwell
The defending champions, Washington Freedom, have a change in captaincy. They have replaced Steven Smith with Glenn Maxwell.
While Smith led the Freedom to the title triumph last year, his international commitments this year prompted a change in the captaincy. The franchise will bank on Maxwell to defend their title successfully.
