Cricket Pitch, Crease, and Boundary Dimensions in Cricket

What is the distance of a cricket pitch? What is the size of the boundary and the inner circle?

If you keep wondering about this, then you are in the right place to get your answers. In this comprehensive guide, I will list all the dimensions of the cricket field.

What is the Distance of a Cricket Pitch?

The pitch is where all the fierce cricketing action between bat and ball unfolds. It is a rectangular strip on the ground that has a length of 22 yards (20.12 m) and a width of 10 feet (3.05 m).

What are the Dimensions of the Creases?

Once the pitch is ready, the groundstaff marks the bowling crease, popping crease, and return crease.

The bowling crease, which indicates the end of the pitch, should be 8 feet 8 inches (2.64 m) in length. The popping crease, which is parallelly marked in front of the bowling crease, should be 4 ft (1.22 m) away from it.

And the return creases that act as the inside edges of the crease should be marked perpendicular (at right angles) to the popping crease at a distance of 4 feet 4 inches (1.32 m).

What is the Length of the Inner Circle in Cricket?

If you have watched a T20I match or an ODI match, then you must have noticed a white circle close to the pitch. It is known as the inner circle or 30-yard circle.

As the name suggests, it is an oval formed by two semi-circles at a radius of 30 yards (27 m) from the centre of each wicket on both ends. In women’s cricket, the inner circle is marked at a radius of 25.15 yards (23 m).

What is the Boundary Size in Men’s and Women’s Cricket?

All cricket grounds don’t have specified dimensions, but the ICC has set a boundary size regulation that needs to be followed in international matches.

In men’s cricket, the maximum size of the boundary should not be longer than 90 yards (82.29 m), and the minimum size should not be shorter than 65 yards (59.43 m) from the centre of the pitch.

While in women’s cricket, the maximum size of the boundary should not be longer than 70 yards (64 m), and the minimum size should not be shorter than 60 yards (54.86 m) from the centre of the pitch.

Distance Between Boundary and Advertising Boards / LED Displays
