India has been a dominant team in ODI cricket. And the reason behind it is the quality of players the country has produced.
These players have delivered their personal best performances match after match while maintaining a high level of fitness. Some of them went on to represent India in over 300 matches, showing their longevity.
Having said that, here are the Indian cricketers who have played 300 ODI matches.
1. Mohammad Azharuddin
Mohammad Azharuddin was the first-ever Indian cricketer to play 300 ODI matches. The former Indian skipper achieved the feat back in the 1998 Champions Trophy against Australia. But it was a dull outing for Azharuddin, as he got out for a duck.
Nonetheless, he featured in 334 matches in all, scoring 9378 runs, including seven centuries and 58 half-centuries. Despite being a fine batter, match-fixing allegations brought an abrupt end to a stellar career.

2. Sachin Tendulkar
Four and a half years later, Sachin Tendulkar received his 300th ODI cap. With that, he became the second Indian to achieve the landmark.
Tendulkar started his career as a teenager and finished it on a high after almost two decades. In between, he played 463 matches, the most by any player in the format.
The right-hand batter accumulated 18426 runs, including 49 hundreds and 96 fifties. His run tally is also the highest by any batter, while Virat Kohli surpassed his century tally in 2023.
3. Rahul Dravid
As solid as a wall, Rahul Dravid was the third Indian cricketer to reach the 300 ODI milestone in January 2007. Most are aware of his Test outings, but he was as good a batter as in ODIs.
Dravid batted at almost every position from first to eighth, though most of his runs came at Nos. 3, 4, and 5. The right-hand batter amassed 10889 runs in 344 matches, including 12 hundreds and 83 fifties.
4. Sourav Ganguly
Sourav Ganguly followed Dravid to join the 300 ODI match club eight months later. He was almost at the fag end of his ODI career.
Ganguly’s career was a rollercoaster ride. He first showed his mettle with the bat before taking over India’s captaincy.
His captaincy stint saw India reach new heights, but then there was a lot of drama towards the end. Nonetheless, Ganguly ended his ODI career with 311 games, adding 11363 runs to his name, including 22 tons and 72 fifties.
5. Yuvraj Singh
Whenever Yuvraj Singh’s name pops up, his six sixes off Stuart Broad’s over in 2007 start playing in the mind. Well, it’s certainly a mighty feat a few batters would achieve; a decade later, he ticked off another rare record.
In June 2017, Yuvraj became the fifth Indian player to feature in 300 ODI matches. He was a fine all-rounder, helping India win many matches with his all-round performances.
His most memorable outing came in the 2011 ODI World Cup, as he won the Player of the Tournament award for his 362 runs and 15 wickets. Yuvraj played a crucial role in India winning the World Cup that year at home. In all, Yuvraj played 304 ODIs, scoring 8701 runs and 111 wickets.
6. MS Dhoni
Two months later, MS Dhoni followed suit, becoming the sixth Indian cricketer to play 300 ODI matches. He achieved the landmark against Sri Lanka on August 31, 2017.
Before that, Dhoni was at the helm of the Indian team, leading them to three ICC titles. India clinched the 2007 T20 World Cup, the 2011 ODI World Cup, and the 2013 Champions Trophy.
He handed the reigns to Kohli in 2017, bowing out as the most successful Indian captain. Three years later, he brought down curtains on his career, playing 350 ODIs and scoring 10773 runs.
7. Virat Kohli
Virat Kohli became the latest entrant to the 300 ODI match club. He received his 300th ODI cap against New Zealand in the Champions Trophy on March 2, 2025.
A few days earlier, the right-hand batter became the third player to score 14000 runs in the format. This is more than enough to stamp his authority as India’s finest white-ball batter.
Kohli still has some cricket left in him, and he will look to add more runs and centuries to his tally.
