The Indian Premier League (IPL) is about to enter its 18th edition on March 22. And it’s going to be a grand affair.
Teams will travel the length and breadth of India over the next two months as they hunt for the trophy. But they will have to overcome the challenge of playing on different surfaces, as 13 venues host the matches.
On that note, here are venues for the IPL 2025 season.
Arun Jaitley Stadium | Delhi
Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium will serve as the home ground for Delhi Capitals (DC). The venue has hosted 90 IPL matches, with the home side featuring in 82 of them.
DC have won 36 fixtures while they faced defeats in 44 matches. This year, the Capitals will play five home matches at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
The surface helps spinners, thanks to its slow nature. But the run-scoring has gone through the roof since the last season.
Barsapara Cricket Stadium | Guwahati
The IPL extravaganza will reach Northeast India in the opening week. Guwahati’s Barsapara Cricket Stadium will turn pink for Rajasthan Royals (RR) matches.
RR will continue their tradition of playing two of their seven home matches at this venue. Thus far, the Barsapara Cricket Stadium has hosted four IPL matches, with the Royals winning once and losing twice.
Dr. Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium | Visakhapatnam
Visakhapatnam is also going to host two matches in the first week. The venue will be home away from home for DC.
The Capitals will start their campaign with two home matches in Visakhapatnam. Last season as well, Delhi played two games here.
Unlike Guwahati, Visakhapatnam has hosted a decent number of IPL matches. In all, 15 games have been played here.
Ekana Stadium | Lucknow
Lucknow Super Giants, playing in their fourth IPL season, will host teams at the Ekana Stadium. They will play seven home matches in Lucknow.
The venue offers a lot of help to the bowlers while batters struggle to connect with the ball. Ekana Stadium has hosted 14 games since 2023.
Eden Gardens | Kolkata
Eden Gardens has a special place in Indian cricket history. The venue located in Kolkata has seen some fierce IPL contests involving the home side.
Last season’s champions, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), will open the new edition at this venue. In all, they will play seven matches at the Eden Gardens. On top of that, qualifier 2 and final will also take place here.
KKR have played in 88 of the 93 matches hosted here, with 52 games going in their favour. As IPL returns this season, the venue will reach the 100-match milestone.
Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium | Dharamsala
Dharamsala’s magnificent HPCA Stadium will be in the spotlight as IPL returns for another season. It will act as Punjab Kings’ (PBKS) second home.
The venue will host three of the seven home games of PBKS. Till 2024, Dharamsala has hosted 13 home games of PBKS.
M. Chinnaswamy Stadium | Bengaluru
Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium is a dream venue for any batter. The flat pitches, coupled with shorter boundaries, often result in high-scoring affairs.
And it won’t be any different as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) play here. They will host seven opponents at their home ground, which has hosted 95 IPL matches thus far.
MA Chidambaram Stadium | Chennai
Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium will be abuzz as MS Dhoni takes the field for one more time. He will be back in the yellow jersey as Chennai Super Kings (CSK) play seven games at the venue.
Known as Chepauk, it’s a formidable den of CSK. And their 50 wins out of 71 matches at this venue speak for it.
Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium | Mullanpur
In the last season, the IPL reached a new venue. The Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium is PBKS’ primary home ground.
The Kings will play four matches at their new home venue this season, one less than the previous edition. In the five matches played here thus far, Punjab have won only one match.
Narendra Modi Stadium | Ahmedabad
The world’s biggest cricket stadium will be home to Gujarat Titans (GT). The 2022 IPL champions will walk out in the one lakh-seater Narendra Modi Stadium.
Situated on the Sabarmati Riverfront, the Ahmedabad venue will host GT’s seven home games. Overall, the stadium has hosted 36 IPL matches, with GT featuring in 16.
Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium | Hyderabad
The Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium will host the home matches of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). The last season’s runners-up will be in action at this venue in seven matches. And two more matches – qualifier 1 and eliminator – will take place here.
The Hyderabad venue has a flat deck, which works in batters favours. And given SRH’s explosive batting lineup, expect some high-scoring games.
Also known as Uppal Stadium, the venue has hosted 77 IPL matches, with SRH playing 57 of them.
Sawai Mansingh Stadium | Jaipur
After two games in Guwahati, Rajasthan Royals (RR) will be back at their main home ground in Jaipur. The Sawai Mansingh Stadium will be painted pink for RR’s five home matches.
In 57 IPL matches played here, the home side has emerged victorious in 37 of them while losing 20.
Wankhede Stadium | Mumbai
Last but not least, Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium will be one of the 13 venues in IPL 2025. The venue will witness a sea of blue as Mumbai Indians (MI) take the field here.
MI will play all their home games at this iconic ground. This is the only venue that has hosted more than 100 IPL games. MI alone have played 85 matches at the Wankhede Stadium.
