Italy are raring to play in the Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. This will be their first-ever appearance in any ICC tournament. So, they would like to make a great impact.
And here’s all you need to know about Italy’s schedule for the T20 World Cup 2026.
But before that…
How did Italy qualify?
Italy had a dream run in the Europe qualifiers. First, they remained unbeaten in the 2024 Europe sub-regional qualifier A to advance to the regional final.
In the five-team Europe regional final in 2025, Italy started off well. They defeated Guernsey before an abandoned match against Jersey. The Azzurri then pulled off an upset against Scotland, almost sealing their World Cup spot.
Since Scotland couldn’t win their next game against Jersey, it paved the way for Italy to qualify for the 2026 edition, even though they lost against the Netherlands.
So, when does Italy play their first match?
Italy will open their maiden T20 World Cup campaign on February 9, 2026. They will face Scotland, the same team they beat in the regional final, in Kolkata at 11:00 AM.
Where will Italy play their matches?
Apart from Kolkata, they will play one match in Mumbai. Kolkata, in fact, will host three of their group-stage fixtures.
Here are the venues for Italy’s matches:
- Eden Gardens, Kolkata
- Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai

Which are Italy’s key fixtures?
Italy’s match against Scotland will, obviously, be a spicy one. Initially, this match wasn’t even scheduled. But now that both teams are meeting again, Italy would like to repeat another win over the Scottish team.
What could be Italy’s Super Eight fixtures if they qualify?
Since Italy are in Group C along with England and the West Indies, their Super Eight qualification looks highly unlikely.
But if they pull off a surprise qualification, here’s how their fixture could look based on a couple of scenarios.
If Italy finish in the top two in Group C, along with England, they will be seeded X3:
| Date | Match | Venue | Time (IST) |
|---|---|---|---|
| February 23, 2026 | X2 (Australia) vs X3 (Italy) | Mumbai | 7:00 PM |
| February 26, 2026 | X3 (Italy) vs X4 (South Africa) | Ahmedabad | 3:00 PM |
| March 1, 2026 | X1 (India) vs X3 (Italy) | Kolkata | 7:00 PM |
If Italy finish in the top two in Group C, along with the West Indies, they will be seeded Y1:
| Date | Matches | Venue | Time (IST) |
|---|---|---|---|
| February 22, 2026 | Super 8: Y1 (Italy) vs Y4 (Sri Lanka) | Kandy | 3:00 PM |
| February 24, 2026 | Super 8: Y1 (Italy) vs Y3 (Pakistan) | Kandy | 7:00 PM |
| February 27, 2026 | Super 8: Y1 (Italy) vs Y2 (New Zealand) | Colombo (RPS) | 7:00 PM |
If neither England nor the West Indies finish in the top two:
- Italy will be seeded Y1 if they top Group C
- Italy will be seeded X3 if they rank second in Group C
