International cricket has been played since the 19th century. But, it was only in 2009 that the International Cricket Council (ICC) launched their Hall of Fame.
The global governing body decided to honour the legends of the game by inducting them into the Hall of Fame. They timed the launch with the board’s centenary celebrations in 2009.
Before that, the Federation of International Cricketers’ Association (FICA) used to have its own Hall of Fame between 1999 and 2003. But in 2009, the ICC collaborated with FICA, creating the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame.
FICA’s 55 Hall of Famers joined the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame honour, along with five new members, making them the initial inductees in 2009.
Here you can find the full list of players (men and women) inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame.

In 2010, Rachael Heyhoe Flint, one of the greatest women’s cricketers, became the first woman player to enter the ICC Hall of Fame.
Thus far, 13 women cricketers have been inducted into this honourable list. England and Australia have the joint-most women’s cricketers on the list, with five each. India comes in second with two players, and New Zealand has a sole entry.
What are the criteria to enter the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame?
Through the Hall of Fame, the ICC aims to recognise the extraordinary accomplishments of players who have carved a stellar career in cricket.
Since 2009, the ICC has added new players every year. But for a player to be inducted into the list, they need to have retired five years before that. That’s the only criteria to make it to the honour.
What is the selection process to induct players into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame?
The living members of the Hall of Fame have a say in selecting the new inductees, along with senior executives and other stakeholders. They select players from the nominated list who are then bestowed with the honour annually.
The new Hall of Fame members are presented with a commemorative ICC Cricket Hall of Fame cap after their induction.
