Playing in the Women’s T20 World Cup is a dream come true moment for many cricketers. But to feature in every Women’s T20 World Cup is a marvellous achievement.

What makes it special is the fact that the game has evolved a lot and players need to maintain a high level of fitness and form. A handful of women cricketers have achieved this feat in the global T20 tournament’s history.

Here, we’ll glance at the players who have featured in every Women’s T20 World Cup from 2009 to 2024.

Harmanpreet Kaur | India

Harmanpreet Kaur is among the players to feature in every Women’s T20 World Cup from 2009 to 2024.

Kaur made her T20 World Cup debut on June 11, 2009, against England, though she had an underwhelming outing as she mustered only 8 runs.

She scored her first fifty (77) in tournament history against Bangladesh in 2014. Harman’s best score came against New Zealand in the 2018 opener, as she hammered 103 runs off 51 balls, making her the first centurion for India in women’s T20Is.

Overall, Harman has played 35 matches in the T20 World Cup, with 576 runs and 11 wickets to her name.

Stafanie Taylor | West Indies

Next up on the list is the West Indies’ Stafanie Taylor. Stafanie made her debut on the same day as Harman, and she had a rocking start, scoring a fifty against South Africa.

She delivered a memorable all-round performance for the West Indies in the 2009 edition, scoring 121 runs and taking 3 wickets. 

Stafanie has made significant contributions in every T20 World Cup edition, with her best coming in 2016. She plundered 246 runs and took 8 wickets while leading the West Indies to their first Women’s T20 World Cup triumph in India.

Stafanie has overall scored 926 runs and picked up 33 wickets while representing the West Indies in 31 T20 World Cup matches. She has scored 100+ runs in 4 editions while taking at least 1 wicket in each of those.

Ellyse Perry | Australia

Without a doubt, Ellyse Perry is one of the greatest players in women’s cricket. There are quite a few all-rounders like her in the modern-day game.

Perry played her first T20 World Cup game on June 12, 2009, against New Zealand. She had a quiet debut edition, scoring only 4 runs and taking 2 wickets.

But her best performance came in the 2014 iteration, scoring 106 runs and grabbing 8 wickets to help Australia make a hat-trick of their T20 World Cup win.

Perry has featured in 42 matches, scoring 371 runs and taking 40 wickets in the global T20 event. She was part of Australia’s all 6 T20 World Cup victories.

Sophie Devine | New Zealand

Sophie Devine has been a consistent performer for New Zealand in the Women’s T20 World Cup since her debut in 2009. Her first match was against Australia on June 12, though she couldn’t contribute much, going wicketless for a 25-run spell.

But in the next 6 editions, from 2010 to 2020, Devine amassed 80+ runs and took 3+ wickets in each iteration. Her best all-round performance came in 2016, when she scored 120 runs and took 9 scalps.

Devine has been the White Ferns’ backbone in the T20 World Cup, having played 32 matches with 671 runs and 29 wickets to her name.

Suzie Bates | New Zealand

Suzie Bates is another White Ferns player to feature in every T20 World Cup. The veteran player’s debut also came alongside Devine’s.

In the debut match against Australia, Bates scored a match-winning 41 not out, which she followed up with 60 against the West Indies. Her batting was instrumental in New Zealand making the finals of the first 2 editions.

Except for 2 editions in 2012 and 2020, Bates accrued 110+ runs in each iteration, with her best coming in 2014. Bates led from the front in 2014, plundering 228 runs and picking up 5 wickets.

Bates has turned up in 36 matches, scoring 1066 runs along with taking 10 wickets. In the 2023 edition, she became the first batter to score 1000 runs in Women’s T20 World Cup history.

Chamari Athapaththu | Sri Lanka

Chamari Athapaththu is a legend of Sri Lankan cricket and an inspiration to many women cricketers in her country. She made her T20 World Cup debut on June 15, 2009, against India, which was her only appearance in that edition.

The next 2 editions were underwhelming for Chamari, but she has put on significant performances since 2014. Chamari has scored 110 or more runs in 4 editions, with her 154-run tally in 2020 being the highest.

The Sri Lankan captain has appeared in 28 matches and scored 666 runs. She is also a handy bowler, having taken 8 wickets.
