Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup Winners List from 2023 to Date

The women’s cricket has been on the rise for the last decade or so. With many T20 leagues popping up these days, women cricketers are showcasing their talent to a wider audience.

But there is a scarcity of young cricketers with no proper age group structure. To tackle this, the ICC launched the Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup in 2023.

It’s almost the same as the men’s tournament, although played in the T20I format, which has taken the world by storm. The tournament aims to increase the participation of young women in age group cricket.

This will eventually unearth some potential players who would go on to represent their senior sides. So the newer ICC event has seen some impressive performances while teams battle to claim the trophy.

In this article, we’ll take a look at the Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup winners.

South Africa hosted the inaugural edition of the Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup in 2023. And India emerged as the winner.

The young Indian side, led by Shafali Verma, won all their group stage encounters to enter the Super Six stage. They faced their only defeat at the hands of Australia in their first Super Six game but bounced back in the next match to seal the semi-final spot.

In the first semi-final, India thrashed New Zealand’s 108-run target in 14.2 overs to storm into the final. England made it from the other semi-final, but they couldn’t stand in front of India’s dominance.

India’s bowlers wrapped up England’s innings for 68 runs to set up an easy victory. They lifted the maiden title by chasing down the target in 14 overs.

India stormed into their consecutive final like a boss. They established dominance by remaining unbeaten throughout the tournament.

After knocking out the West Indies, Malaysia, and Sri Lanka in the group stage, India crushed Bangladesh and Scotland in the Super Six stage. Then in a rematch of the 2023 final, the young Indian girls defeated England by nine wickets in the semi-final.

With the semi-final win, they set up the final against a spirited South Africa. But the South Africans couldn’t find an answer to India’s spin supremacy.

India bowled out South Africa for a mere 82 runs and chased the target in 11.2 overs. And then India inscribed their name on the Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup for the second time.
