The Women’s Premier League (WPL) has been growing from strength to strength since its inception in 2023. The BCCI was hesitant to get the T20 league off the ground for quite some years.
But now it has become a breeding ground for a lot of younger women cricketers. And that has given us some of the youngest debutants, who have made their mark in the league.
That said, here are the five youngest players to feature in the WPL.
5. Alice Capsey | 18 Years and 206 Days
The second match of the inaugural WPL season saw Alice Capsey being the youngest debutant in the league. But now she has slipped to the fifth position.
But on her debut for Delhi Capitals (DC), the England all-rounder was 18 years and 206 days old. Her first game was against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on March 5, 2023.
Although Capsey didn’t get to bat, she picked up two wickets by conceding just 10 runs in her two overs. She wrapped up the season with 159 runs and six wickets in eight matches, helping the Capitals enter the final.
4. VJ Joshitha | 18 Years and 205 Days
VJ Joshitha received her maiden cap in the opening match of the WPL 2025 edition. She turned up for RCB against Gujarat Giants (GG) on February 14, 2025.
Joshitha was 18 years and 205 days old on her debut, though she had a rough outing. She went for 43 runs in her four overs, witnessing an expensive start.
The young fast bowler from Kerala has a decent pace while also being able to move the new ball.
3. Parshavi Chopra | 16 Years and 312 Days
Parshavi Chopra is the third-youngest player in the WPL. The right-arm leg spinner made her debut for UP Warriorz on March 18, 2023, at the age of 16 years and 312 days.
It was a forgettable outing for Chopra as she conceded 35 runs in her wicketless four overs against Mumbai Indians (MI). Later in the edition, she added three wickets in the next three games.
Before that, Chopra made waves with her solid outing in the inaugural Women’s Under-19 T20 World Cup. She finished as the second-highest wicket-taker, bagging 11 wickets in six innings.
2. Shabnam Shakil | 16 Years and 263 Days
Another member of the 2023 Women’s Under-19 T20 World Cup-winning squad, Shabnam Shakil, played her first WPL game in 2024. The right-arm seamer from Andhra impressed with her pace bowling, which helped her get a bid from Gujarat Giants in the inaugural season.
She didn’t get a game in 2023, but the next season saw her don the GG jersey for the first time. Shakil was 16 years and 263 days old on her debut against RCB on March 6, 2024. Although it wasn’t a memorable start, Shakil ended up with four wickets in four matches.
1. G Kamalini | 16 Years and 213 Days
The 2025 season saw G Kamalini break Shakil’s record. Kamalini made her WPL debut at the age of 16 years and 213 days, making her the youngest player in the T20 league.
She turned up for MI against GG on February 18, 2025. The keeper-batter got off the mark with a four on the only ball she faced towards the end of the match.
Earlier, the young Tamil Nadu batter ended up as the third-highest run-getter in the 2025 Women’s Under-19 T20 World Cup, helping India clinch the title. And Kamalini was also the third-most expensive player in the WPL 2025 auction, as MI splurged INR 1.60 crore.
