After missing out on the Men’s T20 World Cup in 2024, Zimbabwe return to the 2026 edition. And they return to prove their mettle under Sikandar Raza’s leadership.
So, here’s a look at Zimbabwe’s schedule for the T20 World Cup 2026, along with key details.
But before that…
How did Zimbabwe perform in their last appearance?
Zimbabwe last featured in the T20 World Cup in 2022. The Chevrons had a great start. They topped Group B in the first round and qualified for the main event.
Zimbabwe carried the momentum into the next round, pulling off a one-run win against Pakistan (watch here!). They came close to beating Bangladesh but lost by three runs.
Then the Chevrons completely failed against the Netherlands and India. They ended their campaign at the bottom of Group 2.
Zimbabwe missed the 2024 edition, so how did they qualify this time?
Since Zimbabwe couldn’t qualify for the 2024 iteration, they had to put in some efforts to make the cut this time around.
They had to play sub-regional qualifiers, followed by the regional final, to make their way into the main event.
In the 2024 Africa sub-regional qualifier B, Zimbabwe remained unbeaten. They won all five matches in the six-team tournament to advance to the regional final.
The Chevrons continued their unbeaten run in the 2025 Africa regional final as well. They topped Group B, won the semi-final, and secured a slot in the final as well as the 2026 edition. Zimbabwe capped off their qualification with a win over Namibia in the regional final.
So, when does Zimbabwe play their first match?
Zimbabwe will mark their return on February 9, 2026. They will face Oman in Colombo at 3 PM IST.
Where else will Zimbabwe play?
Three of their group-stage matches are in Colombo, although at two venues. And they have one game scheduled in Kandy.
Here are the venues for Zimbabwe’s matches:

What are Zimbabwe’s key matches?
Zimbabwe’s clash against Australia could be one to watch. The last time these two sides met in 2007, Zimbabwe stunned the Aussies.
Now they will play in the tournament after close to a decade. So Zimbabwe would like to replicate the 2007 win.
The Chevrons might pip Sri Lanka as well. They recently beat the co-hosts in the Pakistan tri-series.
Who could Zimbabwe play in the Super Eight if they qualify?
While Australia and Sri Lanka look the favourites for the Super Eights, Zimbabwe do have an outside chance. And if they seize it, here’s how their fixtures pan out based on a couple of scenarios and pre-assigned seedings.
If Zimbabwe top Group B, they will be seeded X2:
| Date | Match | Venue | Time (IST) |
|---|---|---|---|
| February 23, 2026 | X2 (Oman) vs X3 (West Indies) | Mumbai | 7:00 PM |
| February 26, 2026 | X1 (India) vs X2 (Oman) | Chennai | 7:00 PM |
| March 1, 2026 | X2 (Oman) vs X4 (South Africa) | Delhi | 3:00 PM |
If Zimbabwe finish at No. 2 in Group B, they will be seeded Y4:
| Date | Match | Venue | Time (IST) |
|---|---|---|---|
| February 22, 2026 | Y1 (England) vs Y4 (Oman) | Kandy | 3:00 PM |
| February 25, 2026 | Y2 (New Zealand) vs Y4 (Oman) | Colombo (RPS) | 7:00 PM |
| February 28, 2026 | Y3 (Pakistan) vs Y4 (Oman) | Kandy | 7:00 PM |
