ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 Teams and Format – Explained

India and Sri Lanka will co-host the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 starting September 30. Five venues will be decked up to stage some thrilling contests between eight teams.

So, which teams are participating in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025?

Eight teams will feature in the month-long Women’s World Cup 2025. Here are the participating teams:

  • Australia
  • Bangladesh
  • England
  • India
  • New Zealand
  • Pakistan
  • South Africa
  • Sri Lanka

How did the teams qualify?

Since India is the host, they gained automatic qualification. Australia, England, South Africa, Sri Lanka, and New Zealand qualified for the main event after securing the top six spots in the 2022-25 Women’s Championship.

The other two spots went to Bangladesh and Pakistan after they claimed the top two positions in the World Cup qualifier hosted by Pakistan in April 2025.

Are all teams playing each other?

Yep. The eight teams will play against each other once in a round-robin group stage.

Alright, what’s the format of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025?

With a round-robin format in place, each team will play seven matches. The round-robin group stage will see 28 matches in total.

All teams will be ranked on a single points table. The top four teams with the most points will, obviously, qualify for the semi-finals.

How will the teams be pitted in the semi-finals?

The table toppers will square off against the fourth-placed team in one semi-final. And the No. 2 and No. 3 sides will clash in the other semi-final.

The first semi-final is on October 29, while the second will take place on October 30. The winners of both semi-finals will then take on each other in the title clash on November 2.
