New Zealand vs India Series 2026: Schedule, Venues, Squads, Broadcast Details

After more than six years, New Zealand will host India for an all-format series at home. The series is spread across October and December 2026.

So here’s all you need to know about the New Zealand vs India series 2026.

When does the New Zealand vs India series 2026 start?

India’s tour of New Zealand begins on October 22, 2026, just five days after the West Indies series at home.

The Kiwis will take on India in the first T20I in Christchurch at 8:00 PM local time (12:30 PM IST).

How many matches are involved?

It’s a long series spread over 40 days. So we will see 12 matches in all. Five of them are T20Is, as many ODIs and two Tests.

The series initially had three ODIs planned. But with the 2027 Cricket World Cup approaching fast, New Zealand Cricket and BCCI agreed on two extra ODIs.

Now this has made India’s all-format tour the biggest in terms of matches in New Zealand’s history.

Which venues will host the series?

This long series will take place across six venues in New Zealand. Christchurch will host three matches, while Mount Maunganui, Auckland, Hamilton and Hnry Stadium (Wellington) will stage two games each. Wellington’s Basin Reserve will host one fixture.

Here are the venues:

  • Basin Reserve, Wellington
  • Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui
  • Eden Park, Auckland
  • Hagley Oval, Christchurch
  • Hnry Stadium, Wellington
  • Seddon Park, Hamilton

What’s the full schedule for the New Zealand vs India series 2026?

After the series opener, both teams will stay back in Christchurch for the second T20I on October 24. Wellington’s Hnry Stadium will host the third T20I on October 27.

The teams will then move to Auckland for the fourth T20I on October 30, while Hamilton will wrap up the T20I leg on November 1.

New Zealand and India will be back in Auckland to start the ODI leg on November 4. The Hnry Stadium will stage the second one-dayer on November 7.

The action will return to Hamilton for the third ODI on November 10. Mount Maunganui will host the next two ODIs on November 13 and 15, respectively.

The attention will then shift to Tests. Wellington’s Basin Reserve will host the first Test starting November 19. Christchurch will wrap up the tour with the second Test from November 27 onwards. The two Tests are part of the current WTC cycle.

What are the squads?

So far, India have announced their T20I squad led by Shreyas Iyer. In a rather surprising move, India have picked up Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the T20I side after more than four years. He will likely replace Jasprit Bumrah, who has been rested.

The rest of the squad is the same as the West Indies series at home, with Ravi Bishnoi left out and Varun Chakravarthy back in after injury.
