The IPL is perhaps the toughest T20 league. So, winning the tournament isn’t as easy as you’d think.
It takes an all-out effort from players to clinch the trophy. And a few players have gone the distance to lift the title several times.
Here we’ll list the top five players who have won the most IPL titles.
5. MS Dhoni | 5 IPL Titles
Seasons: 2010, 2011, 2018, 2021, 2023
Not much of a surprise to see MS Dhoni here. Everyone knows how he manufactured title wins for Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
MSD played in the finals in 11 editions. And he returned home with the trophy five times.
Guess what? All of those victories came as CSK’s skipper, which puts MSD among the most successful captains in the league.
4. Hardik Pandya | 5 IPL Titles
Seasons: 2015, 2017, 2019, 2020, 2022
Not many players match the calibre of Hardik Pandya. His all-round skills always come to the rescue in clutch moments. And now he has also taken up the leadership mantle.
Speaking of his IPL wins, Pandya lifted the trophy five times. Four of those instances came with Mumbai Indians (MI). And the other one? Pandya led debutant Gujarat Titans to victory in 2022.
3. Kieron Pollard | 5 IPL Titles
Seasons: 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, 2020
We don’t need to tell you how central Kieron Pollard was to MI’s setup. Wanted a good finish? Pollard was there. Wanted a breakthrough? Pollard was there. Wanted a good fielder? Well, he was there.
Pollard contributed in whatever ways possible to keep MI at the top. And his contribution to MI’s five title triumphs can’t be overlooked.
2. Ambati Rayudu | 6 IPL Titles
Seasons: 2013, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2021, 2023
Perhaps no other player was as blessed as Ambati Rayudu in the IPL. Why so?
Rayudu played for two teams in the league. And he won the trophy for both teams – not once, but three times each! Now tell us if there’s anything better than this.
The first three wins were in MI’s jersey between 2013 and 2017. Then, Rayudu moved to CSK to have another triple treat between 2018 and 2023.
1. Rohit Sharma | 6 IPL Titles
Seasons: 2009, 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, 2020
Rohit Sharma is the other player to win the IPL trophy six times. In fact, he was the first to hit a perfect six in the league.
Sharma’s first IPL final bout was back in 2009. He was a major contributor to Deccan Chargers’ title run that year.
A season later, the Hitman moved to MI. In a couple of years, the captaincy mantle fell on his shoulders.
And as they say, the rest is history. MI sailed through in five IPL finals under Sharma’s captaincy.
