The WTC Final 2025 is currently underway in England. Australia and South Africa are tussling for the Test mace at the Lord’s cricket ground.
The winner of this match will be the new World Test Champion. And both teams will be eager to boast that tag for the next two years.
But what if there’s no outright winner due to a draw, tie, or abandonment? Then, who will be the champion?
Will South Africa win for topping the WTC 2023-25 points table?
Not really. While South Africa topped the points table, it doesn’t guarantee the Test mace in case the match doesn’t have an outright result. The points table merely acts to decide the two finalists.
Then, who wins if the WTC final 2025 is drawn, tied, or abandoned?
As you know, the team with the most runs after completion of both innings (all out or declared) wins the Test match. But if the innings aren’t completed, then the Test ends in a draw.
Likewise, if both teams’ scores are level after completion of all innings (all out), then it will result in a tied Test. An abandoned Test means the match couldn’t start due to unforeseen reasons.
If any of the three results occur in the WTC Final 2025, then Australia and South Africa will share the honours. So you will see both teams lifting the Test mace at the podium.
