Youngest Batters to Score 50 in T20Is

A decade ago, a 15 or 16-year-old making international debut was quite rare, let alone score a fifty.

But, as you know, times have changed. T20I cricket has been witnessing teenagers making their marks early in their careers.

And here we look at the five youngest batters with a fifty in T20I cricket.

5. Tenjin Rabgey (Bhutan) | 16y 118d

Tenjin Rabgey made his T20I debut in July 2022. But he had to wait for a year to score his maiden fifty.

While it was a long wait, Rabgey made sure to make it memorable. He scored 50 off 47 balls to help Bhutan post a challenging 161 for 4 against China. And he did it at the age of 16 years and 118 days!

4. Alusine Turay (Sierra Leone) | 16y 89d

Alusine Turay isn’t the most heard name in the cricketing circuit. But he showed a lot of maturity for his age when the situation called for it.

Wickets kept falling on the other end. But Turay held his composure. He scored an unbeaten 78 off 72 for Sierra Leone against Ghana in the 2023 Africa Cricket Association Cup.

Sure, the knock was slow. But it gave Sierra Leone a chance to put up a fight in the game, which they lost by a whisker.

3. Kavin Chaddha (Indonesia) | 16y 76d

Cricket has picked up pace in Southeast Asia. And Indonesia are the best example of it.

Some fine youngsters are coming from the country. And Kavin Chaddha is one of them.

The right-hander hit 60 off 37, including eight fours and two sixes, to help Indonesia chase 146 with ease against Sweden in a 2026 game.

2. Louis Bruce (Gibraltar) | 16y 56d

Scoring a fifty as a teenager on T20I debut might sound like a tough task. But Louis Bruce made it look like a walk in the park.

He lost his opening partner early. But then he found good company in Chris Delany to put up an 115-run stand.

That partnership and Bruce’s 60 off 53 helped Gibraltar get 148 for 5, which they unfortunately failed to defend against Malta in a 2021 match.

1. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi (India) | 15y 118d

Fresh off his historical debut, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi didn’t take too long to score his maiden T20I fifty. He was just 15 years and 118 days old when he reached 50.

India were out chasing 126 against Zimbabwe. Not a big target meant less pressure. So everything was perfectly laid for a Sooryavanshi special!

And he delivered. Sooryavanshi smashed a 19-ball fifty to announce himself on the big stage.

Now can he become the youngest T20I centurion ever? Well, only time will tell.
