What’s the format of ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026?

The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup returns with a new edition in June 2026. England are set to host the event from June 12 to July 5.

A total of 12 teams are in the hunt to claim the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 title.

So will teams play each other? What’s the format like?

Which teams are participating?

Hosts England qualified directly along with seven other teams. The teams are: Australia, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka and the West Indies.

The other four teams – Bangladesh, Ireland, the Netherlands and Scotland – booked their slots through the global qualifier.

Have teams been divided into groups?

Yes. Teams have been split into two groups of six each.

So what’s the format of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026?

With two groups in place, teams will face their group opponents once each. So each team plays five matches in the group stage.

Once the group stage concludes, the top two teams from each of Groups 1 and 2 will qualify for the semi-finals.

In the first semi-final, the Group 1 topper will face the second-placed team from Group 2. The second semi-final will put the Group 2 topper against the No. 2 team from Group 1.

The winners from the two semi-finals will then play against each other in the tournament final scheduled for July 5 at Lord’s.
