The Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 has returned in full swing. While the tournament is moving ahead well, there’s one major concern.
What’s that, you ask? Rain. Even though it’s summer in England, the weather there is pretty unpredictable.
And a few warm-up games played ahead of the tournament have been impacted by rain.
So what if it rains in the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026?
In that case, we might see shortened games. As usual, the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method will come into the picture.
According to the playing conditions, the team batting second must face at least five overs unless a legitimate result has been achieved.
If this doesn’t happen, then the match will end with no result. And both teams will get one point each.
What if rain doesn’t even allow the match to begin?
If the toss happens but rain doesn’t allow the match to start, then it will be a no result.
In case the toss doesn’t even take place, let alone the match, then the officials will abandon the game. And both teams will share a point each.
Each group stage match, however, has an additional 60 minutes. So the officials will look to achieve a result.
What if it rains in the knockouts?
The above conditions remain unchanged. But the minimum number of overs increases to 10.
So the team batting second must bat for at least 10 overs unless the match achieves a result.
Notably, both the semi-finals and the final have reserve days. There’s also a provision of an additional 90 minutes to the scheduled semi-final days, with the extra time being 120 minutes on reserve days.
The final will have an additional 150 minutes on the scheduled as well as the reserve day to achieve a result.
What if the knockout matches are abandoned?
This looks unlikely. But if the semi-finals are indeed abandoned, then the table toppers will qualify for the final.
And if the final also doesn’t see any action, then both the finalists will be declared joint winners.
