Format of the Lanka Premier League

The fourth edition of the Lanka Premier League will include Pakistan captain and standout batter Babar Azam, as well as flamboyant South African David Miller and the ever-dependable Bangladeshi Shakib Al Hasan, as big star acquisitions.

From July 30 to August 20, 2023, in Sri Lanka’s premier T20, each team can have a maximum of six international players on its roster. In the round-robin stage, the five teams will play each other twice. The top four teams will qualify for the playoffs.

The Jaffna Stallions of Sri Lanka’s northern tip won the first three seasons, first as Jaffna Stallions in 2020 and twice as Jaffna Kings in 2021 and 2022.

Babar Azam, a talented batter and one of the finest in the game these days, will wear the shirt of the Colombo Strikers, a team situated in the capital. Before joining the LPL, Pakistan’s captain will go to Sri Lanka for a two-match Test series against the Lankans. Shakib Al Hasan of Bangladesh has joined the Galle Titans.

The month-long event will be held at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo and Pallekelle Stadium in Kandy.
