What is the Prize Money for the T20 World Cup 2024?

The ICC T20 World Cup 2024 kicked off with a bang as co-hosts United States of America (USA) thrashed their neighbour Canada in a high-scoring thriller.

This is the major ICC event that is taking place in the USA for the first time, marking a historic moment in world cricket. The ICC further decided to make it a momentous event by announcing a whopping rise in prize money for the ninth edition.

All 20 teams are set to get their share from a collective prize pot of US$11.25 million, almost double of $5.6 million in 2022.

Here are all the details about prize money distribution for the T20 World Cup 2024.

How much prize money will winners and runners-up get in the T20 World Cup 2024?

The winners of the T20 World Cup 2024 will take home the trophy along with prize money of at least US$2.45 million (approx. INR 20.3 crore). The winner’s prize money has marked a jump of $850,000 from the previous edition

On the other hand, the runners-up will bag US$1.28 million (approx. INR 10.6 crore). The runner-up prize money has also witnessed a rise of $480,000.

What about other teams?

Both losing semi-finalists will take home $787,500 each (approx. INR 6.5 crore), an increase from $400,000 in 2022. The other 4 teams that will enter the Super 8 stage will receive $382,500 each (approx. INR 3.1 crore). 

While the teams that finish between the 9th and 12th positions will earn $247,500 each (approx. INR 2.05 crore). And the remaining 8 teams that finish between the 13th and 20th positions will get $225,000 each (approx. INR 1.8 crore).

Apart from that, each team stands a chance to make $31,154 (approx. INR 25.8 lakhs) in addition to their prize money for each win in the first round and Super 8 stage.
