West Indies vs India 2023 – Squads, Schedule, Venues, and Broadcast

On June 12, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the schedule of India’s tour of the West Indies. The tour will start on July 12 and span over a month.

India will face the Caribbean team after a month-long break. Besides, they will look to come over the disappointing loss against Australia in the World Test Championship (WTC) Final 2023.

The West Indies, on the other hand, are all set to compete in the ICC World Cup Qualifiers in Zimbabwe starting June 18 before they square off against India.

Coming back to the West Indies vs India series, the tour consists of 10 matches across formats. 

Test Series

India is set to play two-match Test series, which is part of India’s 2023-25 WTC cycle

The first Test match will be played between July 12 and July 16 at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium in Dominica. Further, the second Test match will be played from July 20 to July 24 at the Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad. 

Meanwhile, the Queen’s Park Oval will host the 100th Test match between India and West Indies. And both Test matches will commence at 7:30 pm IST.

ODI Series

After the conclusion of the Test series, India and the West Indies will face each other in a three-match ODI series.

The first and second ODIs will be played on July 27 and 29 at the Kensington Oval in Barbados. While the third and final ODI will take place on August 1 at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad.

This ODI series will be important for preparation ahead of the upcoming World Cup 2023 in India.

T20I series

India and the West Indies will then lock horns in a five-match T20I series.

The first T20I match will be held on August 3 at the same stadium in Trinidad. Subsequently, the second and third T20Is will be played on August 6 and 8 at the Guyana National Stadium.

The series will then conclude in the United States of America (USA). The last two T20I matches are scheduled to be played on August 12 and 13 at the Broward County Stadium in Florida.

No. 3 batter Cheteshwar Pujara couldn’t find himself a place in the Test squad following poor form. Along with him, pacer Umesh Yadav has also been dropped from the Test team.

Meanwhile, Ajinkya Rahane, after making a comeback in the WTC Final in England, has been re-appointed as the Vice Captain of the Test side. Fast bowler Navdeep Saini is also making a comeback to the Test squad.

Young batters Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and pacer Mukesh Kumar, who were stand-bys for the WTC Final, have earned their maiden Test call-ups. 

Moreover, both Gaikwad and Kumar are part of the ODI team for the West Indies series. Besides, wicketkeeper batter Sanju Samson also features in the white ball team in the absence of KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant.

As per a Cricbuzz report, Dream Sports, the parent company of FC, has sub-licensed the streaming rights to Viacom18. So, Viacom18 will also stream the matches live on Jio Cinema in India. DD Sports, on the other hand, is likely to broadcast the West Indies vs India series live on TV.
