Cricket is not just a sport in India; for many, it’s a religion. And Sachin Tendulkar is not just an ordinary cricketer; he is the GOD of Cricket.
Cricket fans in India worship Sachin as a god, and fans have built a temple for him in Bihar.
That shows the love from the billions of cricket fans towards the Master Blaster, Sachin Tendulkar. And he rightfully deserves it all, as he is regarded as one of the greatest cricketers of all time (GOAT) to have graced the cricket field.
But what makes Sachin Tendulkar the GOAT?
Well, the reasons are plenty. However, I will share 5 reasons that make Sachin the GOAT. 🐐
Unbreakable Records and Achievements
In a career spanning 24 years, the legendary batter played 664 matches across formats, scoring a whopping 34357 runs. Moreover, he has 100 centuries to his name across formats — the most by a batter.
Further, Sachin completed 15000 Test runs in 300 innings to become the fastest batsman to achieve the milestone. And oh, how can I forget about his double century record? He became the first player to smash a double century in the ODI format.
The numbers are incredible, and I wonder if any modern-day batter will come close to Sachin’s unbreakable records.
Longevity and Consistency
Sachin is synonymous with Longevity. No other player has had a career like Sachin’s.
A young boy from Mumbai, aged 16, made his debut against Pakistan in 1989. And he went on to play until 2013. That’s almost 24 years of a cricketing career.
In the world of franchise cricket, it will be hard for any cricketer to have this type of longevity and consistency.
Discipline and Determination
The cover drive was Sachin Tendulkar’s favourite shot. When he played a cover drive, it felt like poetry in motion. But the same shot was his weakness as well.
He used to lose his wicket while playing the drive off the outside the off deliveries. And this happened on a number of occasions in the 2004 Australia Test series.
So, in the 4th Test, he scored 241* runs at Sydney Cricket Ground, but he didn’t play a single cover drive throughout his innings. This was one of Sachin’s most disciplined knocks.

Adaptability and Mastery
Be it the Test format or the ODI format, Sachin mastered both. He played on different pitches, faced some of the toughest bowlers, and played in diverse conditions. But he read the conditions quite well and adapted quickly to give the opposition a tough time.
Sachin had the tendency to perform in every condition, on every pitch — be it at home or away. And that is one of the reasons behind his smashing 58 away centuries combined in Tests and ODIs.
Sound Batting Technique
If cricket is an art, then Sachin was one of the best artists. His well-timed shots felt like a painter painting a beautiful picture.
His balance, footwork, and shot selection were just perfect. When he was out there in the middle, he let his bat do the talking, leaving bowlers scratching their heads.
Final Words
Sachin Tendulkar was more than just a cricketer; he was an emotion. When he was on strike, people stopped doing their work so that they could get a glimpse of his batting. He united the whole country.
No one would have imagined that a 16-year-old kid would go on to achieve all of this in his career. With time, he became a household name that made people fall in love with the game of cricket. And when he retired from international cricket, he left every ardent fan emotional.
Sachin Tendulkar’s records, consistency, technique, and discipline make him the GOAT.
