On October 16, 2024, Cricket Australia (CA) announced the schedule for the 2025-26 cracking Ashes series. Host Australia will take on rival England in this biennial Test contest.
The five-match Test series will begin on November 21, 2024, with Perth Stadium hosting the opening clash.
For the last four decades, Gabba used to stage the opening match of the Ashes. But in the upcoming Ashes, the tradition will come to an end as Perth gets the honour.
This move comes after CA shuffled venues after making contracts with the Australian state governments earlier this year.
Though Gabba will be hosting the second Test, which will be a day-night affair. The second match will be played between December 4 and 8.
Adelaide Oval, which was the pink-ball centre, will stage the pre-Christmas clash starting on December 17. The MCG, as usual, will hold the traditional Boxing Day Test, which will be played between December 26 and 30.
Sydney Cricket Ground will be decked up to host the New Year’s Test, which will start on January 4, 2025.
