What comes to your mind when one speaks of the West Indies? The world champions. The power hitters. The entertainers.
While their champion era no longer exists, they continue to produce power hitters and entertainers – at least in the shortest formats.
Despite that, the West Indies aren’t a consistent side anymore. Many of the Caribbean players have taken up franchise T20 deals, straightaway declining central contracts.
This is a major reason behind their decline. And to somehow stop this, Cricket West Indies (CWI) offers central contracts to its top performers and new talent.
CWI has announced the new rounds of central contracts for the 2025-26 season. Here are the players who are on central contracts.
West Indies Cricketers with Central Contracts
On October 1, 2025, CWI revealed the players with central contracts for the 2025-26 season. A total of 15 players have earned a senior men’s contract.
The board has retained 12 of the players from the previous year’s cycle. Kraigg Brathwaite, Joshua Da Silva, and Kavem Hodge are the three who miss out on a contract.
Justin Greaves, Sherfane Rutherford, and Jomel Warrican have replaced them in this season’s list.
On top of this, CWI has awarded starter contracts to Jewel Andrew, Jediah Blades, and Johann Layne. Think of it as development contracts offered to the players with potential.
And the board has also handed out academy contracts to 15 men’s players, including Jediah Blades.
Academy contracts? Ah, CWI gives them to the emerging talent. Those with academy contracts get access to coaches, the technical team, and world-class infrastructure.
