
After the Asia Cup final loss, Pakistan will return to cricket action at home. They will host South Africa for an all-format series across October-November 2025.
Pakistan and South Africa will both kick off their World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 cycles while also preparing for the T20 World Cup 2026. The ODIs, meanwhile, will help them build towards the Cricket World Cup 2027.
So, when and where does the Pakistan vs South Africa 2025 series start?
The series will start on October 12, 2025, with the first Test between Pakistan and South Africa. Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium will host the first red-ball encounter starting at 10:00 AM local time.
How many matches will take place?
The Test series includes two matches, while there will be three T20Is and three ODIs. So, both teams will play eight matches in total.
Which venues will host the matches?
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has earmarked three venues for South Africa’s visit. Lahore and Rawalpindi will share the duties for Tests and T20Is, while Faisalabad will host ODIs for the first time after more than 17 years.

Alright, what’s the complete schedule for the Pakistan vs South Africa 2025 series?
After the first Test in Lahore, both teams will travel to Rawalpindi for the second Test, which starts on October 20. Rawalpindi will also stage the first T20I on October 28.
Pakistan and South Africa will return to Lahore for the next two T20Is scheduled on back-to-back days, October 31 and November 1.
Then both teams will engage in ODIs, with the first scheduled on November 4 in Faisalabad. The second one-dayer will take place on November 6, while the last ODI will be on November 8.

What about the squads?
Pakistan have revealed a strong squad for Tests. Shan Masood, who was demoted in the central contracts recently, continues to lead them.
The hosts have bolstered their spin attack by including uncapped Asif Afridi and Faisal Akram. They will be backups for Abrar Ahmed, Noman Ali, and Sajid Khan.
Mohammad Rizwan will also have a backup opener in uncapped Rohail Nazir. Babar Azam, Saud Shakeel, and Abdullah Shafique headline a solid batting lineup. Shaheen Shah Afridi, meanwhile, will spearhead their pace attack.
