Cricket action isn’t stopping soon in Africa. South Africa are gearing up to host Australia for a month-long series across September-October 2026. This also marks the start of South Africa’s 2026-27 home season.

When does the South Africa vs Australia series 2026 begin?
The series starts on September 24, 2026. South Africa will face Australia in the first ODI in Durban at 10:00 AM local time (1:30 PM IST).
How many matches are part of the series?
Both sides will face each other in three ODIs and three Tests. The ODIs are crucial for both teams as they build towards the next year’s Cricket World Cup co-hosted by South Africa.
The Tests are also the first between the two sides in South Africa since the infamous Sandpapergate in 2018.
Which venues will host the series?
The series will take place across five venues in Durban, Cape Town, Potchefstroom, Gqeberha and Johannesburg.

What’s the full schedule for the South Africa vs Australia series 2026?
So after the first ODIs, both teams will travel to Johannesburg for the second match on September 27. Potchefstroom will host the third one-dayer on September 30.
Potchefstroom will also host a two-day red-ball match between Cricket South Africa Invitation XI and Australia on October 3 and 4.
Then the action will return to Durban for the first Test starting on October 9. Gqeberha will host the second Test on October 18, while Cape Town will host the last Test from October 27 onwards.
