The Caribbean Premier League (CPL) returns with a brand new season on August 7, 2026.
And as the league returns, the teams and their captains will be in focus. A few teams have once again trusted their leaders, while a few have brought new captains.
So who all are the captains in the CPL 2026 season? Here’s a look at each one of them.
Antigua & Barbuda Falcons | Moeen Ali
Moeen Ali is set for his maiden captaincy stint in the CPL. He replaces Imad Wasim as Antigua & Barbuda Falcons’ captain.
While Moeen is not new to captaincy, it will be a challenge to lead the Falcons, who are on the lookout for their maiden title. He has previously led England, Birmingham Phoenix and Worcestershire in T20 cricket.
Barbados Tridents | Chris Green
Barbados Tridents, like their name, have brought in a new captain. Chris Green will now lead them after Rovman Powell joined Jamaica Kingsmen.
Green has previously captained in the CPL. Plus, he has extensive experience playing in the Caribbean, having been a regular in the CPL since 2018.
So the Tridents would hope that Green delivers their third title in familiar conditions.
Guyana Amazon Warriors | Imran Tahir
Guyana Amazon Warriors have once again chosen Imran Tahir for the captaincy role. And the reason is simple.
The veteran spinner delivered the CPL title in 2023 and two GSL titles in 2025 and 2026. Plus, the Warriors made the final in the last two CPL seasons.
While the Warriors failed to add a title in both attempts, Tahir would hope to break the pattern this time around.
Jamaica Kingsmen | Rovman Powell
CPL debutants, Jamaica Kingsmen, have entrusted Rovman Powell with the captaincy duties.
Last season, he was at the helm of the Tridents. Notably, he led Jamaica Tallawahs to the title victory in 2022.
Now the Kingsmen would like Powell to bring back some joy to Jamaican fans.
St Kitts & Nevis Patriots | Jason Holder
St Kitts & Nevis Patriots have once again shown their faith in Jason Holder.
While the Patriots had a poor show last season, Holder’s recent MLC heroics with LA Knight Riders gives them an edge this time.
St Lucia Kings | Roston Chase
St Lucia Kings have appointed Roston Chase as their new skipper. He replaces David Wiese in the role.
This is the first time Chase will lead a CPL team in a full-time capacity. While Chase previously led the Kings in 2022, it was a one-match stint.
Trinbago Knight Riders | Nicholas Pooran
Defending champions Trinbago Knight Riders have backed Nicholas Pooran for another season.
Pooran led the Knight Riders to their fifth CPL title. Now he would like to add the sixth trophy to their cabinet.
