The Big Bash League (BBL) will return to light up the 2025-26 Australian summer. The T20 league enters its 15th edition. Many local and overseas stars will turn up in the BBL 2025-26 season.
When and where does the BBL 2025-26 start?
The 15th edition of the BBL will begin on December 14, 2025. Perth Scorchers will take on Sydney Sixers in the curtain raiser. The Perth Stadium will host the clash starting at 4:15 PM local time (1:45 PM IST).
Does BBL 2025-26 clash with other leagues?
Yep. The BBL 2025-26 season will overlap with the UAE’s ILT20, South Africa’s SA20, and Bangladesh’s BPL.
But most of the players who’ve signed up with BBL teams have committed availability for the full season. So, the BBL teams are sort of relieved.
How many teams will participate in the BBL 2025-26?
The usual eight teams will feature in yet another BBL season. Hobart Hurricanes walk in as the defending champions.

What’s the format like in the BBL 2025-26?
The BBL 2025-26 will have a league stage, followed by the finals series. Each team will play 10 matches in the league stage – two each against three teams and one each against four teams.
After the league stage, the top four teams advance to the finals series. The top two teams square off in the Qualifier, with the winner qualifying for the final.
The third- and fourth-placed teams will take on each other in the Knockout. Then, the Knockout winner will face the Qualifier loser in the Challenger. The Challenger winner will then lock horns against the Qualifier winner in the final.

The BBL 2025-26 matches will take place at 11 grounds across Australia.

What’s the complete schedule for the BBL 2025-26?
So the BBL 2025-26 runs from December 14, 2025, to January 25, 2026. In all, 44 matches will take place.
The league stage, which ends on January 18, comprises 40 matches. The finals series starts two days later with the Qualifier, followed by the Knockout (Jan 21) and the Challenger (Jan 23). Finally, the season will conclude on January 25 with the title clash.
