SA20 2026: Schedule, Teams, Squads, Venues, & Broadcast Details

South Africa is ready to host yet another exciting season of the SA20. The T20 league returns for its fourth instalment in late December 2025.

Here’s all you need to know about the SA20 2026 season.

When does the SA20 2026 start?

The fourth season of the SA20 will start on Boxing Day. Last season’s champion, MI Cape Town, will lock horns against Durban’s Super Giants in the curtain raiser on December 26, 2025.

How many teams will participate?

The usual six teams, owned by IPL franchise owners, will be in action in the SA20 2026.

Here are the six teams in the SA20 2026 season:

  • Durban’s Super Giants
  • Joburg Super Kings
  • MI Cape Town
  • Paarl Royals
  • Pretoria Capitals
  • Sunrisers Eastern Cape

Will SA20 2026 clash with other leagues?

Yes. And it’s almost unavoidable now. Thankfully, SA20 will partially clash with the UAE’s ILT20 this season.

But it overlaps with Australia’s BBL throughout the season. And Bangladesh’s BPL takes place in the same window, too. So, yeah, the SA20 will pan out in a pretty much packed window.

Know All About SA20 Here

Alright. What’s the format like?

Well, it’s nothing fancy. The SA20 follows the standard T20 league format. A double round-robin league format, followed by the four-match playoffs.

Each team plays 10 matches on a home-and-away basis in the league stage, taking on the other five opponents twice. The top four teams among them move into the playoffs.

The top two sides meet in Qualifier 1, while the next two square off in the Eliminator. The Qualifier 1 winner moves straight into the final, while the loser gets another chance against the Eliminator winner in Qualifier 2. The Qualifier 2 winner then gets to play in the final against the Qualifier 1 winner.

Which venues will host SA20 2026?

A total of six venues across South Africa will be decked up for the fourth edition of the league. Each team will play five matches at their home ground.

  • Boland Park, Paarl
  • Kingsmead, Durban
