South Africa’s World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 Schedule

Now, the Proteas will carry the tag of the ‘WTC Champions’ for the next two years. And they will look to defend the trophy by making the final of the WTC 2025-27 cycle.

So they will be back in the hunt from October 2025 onwards. They will be in action across six Test series scheduled until March 2027, which will decide the fate of the new champions.

South Africa will feature in 14 Test matches, two more than the last cycle. They will begin the title defence with two consecutive away series in Pakistan and India.

Then, three back-to-back home series will be lined up against Australia, Bangladesh, and England. South Africa will conclude their cycle in Sri Lanka.

Pakistan vs South Africa (Away)

South Africa’s first series of the WTC 2025-27 cycle will be an away fixture. They will tour Pakistan in October 2025. The series will involve two Test matches.

The last time South Africa travelled to Pakistan in 2021, they returned with empty hands. Pakistan beat them in the two-match series.

India vs South Africa (Away) – Freedom Trophy

After the Pakistan tour concludes, South Africa will arrive in neighbouring India. The Proteas will take on the hosts in a two-Test series in November 2025.

Kolkata will stage the first Test from November 14 onwards. And Guwahati will play host to the second Test from November 22 onwards.

The Proteas have struggled on their last couple of India tours. They haven’t won a Test match here since 2010.

South Africa vs Australia (Home)

After a 10-month gap, South Africa will gear up for a spicy Test series against Australia at home. This will be the first series between the two sides in South Africa since the controversial ‘Sandpapergate’ event.

South Africa will host the Aussies for a three-match Test series. The series will take place across September and October 2026.

Besides the controversy, South Africa pulled off a 3-1 series win over the visitors in 2018.

South Africa vs Bangladesh (Home)

South Africa’s second home series will be against Bangladesh. Both sides will engage in two Tests in November 2026.

The last time South Africa hosted Bangladesh in 2022, the series went in their favour, 2-0. The Proteas haven’t yet conceded a Test loss against Bangladesh at home.

South Africa vs England (Home) – Basil D’Oliveira Trophy

South Africa will cap off their 2026 with an important home series against England. They will host the Englishmen after a seven-year hiatus.

The Proteas will lock horns against England in three Tests across December 2026. South Africa will aim for revenge for their last two series losses against England at home.

Sri Lanka vs South Africa (Away)

South Africa’s final frontier of the WTC 2025-27 will be Sri Lanka. They will tour the island nation, situated in the Indian Ocean, in February-March 2027.

This will be South Africa’s first trip to Sri Lanka since their last series in 2018. Like the 2018 tour, both sides will square off in two Tests.
